[NEWS][12.16.10] SNSD’s Yuri makes Golden Disk Daesang brighter

As expected, SNSD won the Golden Disk Daesang. 2AM, who was always second to SNSD, shared other awards along with SNSD. SNSD is the first girl group in history and first female artists in six years after Lee SooYoung to win Golden Disk Daesang. They now have virtually no more records to break.
As soon as SNSD entered Japan for promotion, they broke many music chart records. Therefore, it is not exaggeration to say that they are record-makers. Last year, SNSD set a record of 9 consecutive weeks of winning, so they obviously had fair enough reasons to aim for Golden Disk Daesang and proudly received it. No one, including 2AM, whose popularity grew tremendously this year, could not stop SNSD.

Even though it was pretty reasonable to expect SNSD’s Oh! to win Golden Disk Daesang this year, no one could be completely sure of the result. Their greatest rival for the award was Super Junior, which belonged to the same company as SNSD. Despite the fact that Super Junior was able to achieve 1st places without any hit songs this year and had plenty of album sales, they were not able to defeat SNSD.
Super Junior aimed to achieve more album sales by dividing up their album into a, b, and c. However, because of this strategy, the Daesang went to SNSD instead of Super Junior. Super Junior already has a record of receiving the Golden Disk Daesang, so it is reasonable to think that SNSD deserves the award. Weather SM entertainment used this strategy aiming for this goal or not, the result was interesting.

Despite the fact that SNSD is one of the top idols and is dominating the records in Korea and Japan, they shed tears whenever they win awards. Many anti-s criticize them for shedding tears intentionally; however, it is not right to criticize others’ tears. SNSD lives in a world in which they get criticized even for just breathing, but they never say a word about it. They might be crying when they receive the awards because of their overwhelming feelings.
Yuri stated, “This is all possible because of the fans. Instead of us getting congratulated, today is a great opportunity for us to congratulate our fans.” Yuri is not talented in speeches, but whenever she gets to express her feelings when winning awards, she never forgets to mention about her fans. Therefore, she clearly showed her feelings toward the fans during Golden Disk Award.
